The Qatar Talking Archives Project is a proof-of-concept, hoped to encourage archival preservation of the presumably large body of exisitng Qatar-based oral histories. After locating  and a collection of oral histories, getting proper permissions from owners, the team works to provide descriptions,transcriptions and make sample copies if possible. This digital archive is intended to be a place where all of the many oral history collections done over the years can be identified and seen as parts of a greater whole.

يعد مشروع أرشيف قطر الناطق إثباتًا للمفهوم، يؤمل في أن يشجع الحفاظ على أرشفة مجموعة كبيرة للتاريخ الشفوي المتوقع وجودها في قطر. فبعد تحديد أماكن تواجد الروايات الشفوية وجمعها، وبعد الحصول على التصاريح اللازمة من مالكيها، انكب فريق العمل على توصيف وتدوين هذه الروايات، ونسخ عينات منها حال أمكن ذلك. كما يهدف هذا الأرشيف الرقمي إلى أن يكون مكانًا يمكن فيه التعرف على جميع روايات التاريخ الشفوي التي تم جمعها عبر السنوات ورؤيتها كجزء من كل

The first collection we present here is the Swalif Collection. The recordings in this collection were part of a dynamic project carried out in 2010 by three students at  Qatar University. It recieved generous attention in the media and a Qatar National Research Foundation award. It also had a well-developed website. Luckily, Sara al-Khalfan, who was part of the original Swalif group has helped us to extend the life of some of the oral histories from the Swalif website here at  the Qatar Talking Archives Project.

إن أول مجموعة نقدمها عبر منصتنا هي مجموعة «سوالف». وقد كانت التسجيلات المتضمنة في هذه المجموعة جزءًا من مشروع ديناميكي تم تنفيذه في عام ٢٠١٠ من قبل ثلاثة طلاب في جامعة قطر. وقد حظيت باهتمام كبير في وسائل الإعلام وحصلت على جائزة الصندوق القطري لرعاية البحث العلمي التابع لمؤسسة قطر. كما كان لديها أيضًا موقعًا إلكترونيًا متطورًا. ولحسن الحظ، ساعدتنا سارة الخلفان، التي كانت جزءًا من مجموعة العمل الأصلية المعنية بـ «سوالف»،  في إطالة صلاحية بعض الروايات التاريخية الشفوية الواردة عبر موقع «سوالف» الإلكتروني على منصتنا، ضمن مشروع أرشيف قطر الناطق
