Oral histories have been the preferred documentation method for many people in Qatar for many decades. Although there has been a proliferation of oral history projects in Qatar, many have not been listened to for years and are assumed to be in vulnerable conditions. Most recordings were never transcribed, and their contents remain unknown.

The Qatar Talking Archives Project intends to survey existing Qatar-based oral histories. After locating them and getting proper permissions from owners, it will work to provide descriptions, transcriptions and make sample copies if possible. This digital archive is intended to be a place where all of the many oral history collections done over the years can be identified and seen as parts of a greater whole.

STAY TUNED for our exciting developments!
